Close your account
What closing does
Section titled “What closing does”Closing your account ends your agreement with us. An email confirms it. Then:
- Your websites go offline the same day and leave the gallery. Their contact forms stop taking messages.
- Monthly subscriptions are cancelled: nothing renews, and the days already paid are not returned.
- For 30 days, you can still sign in, but only to look at everything and export it.
- Then your account and everything in it are erased. You can also erase it sooner.
Your team’s people stop reaching your websites the same day. Read Working as a team.
Nothing changes on your computer: the folders of your websites stay there.
Export first
Section titled “Export first”Before you close, or during the 30 days after, take what you want to keep:
- each version of a website, with the finished website, its texts and its images. Read Export a version;
- each website’s statistics, from the same page;
- a copy of your account, with your contacts and the emails saved online. Read Download a copy of your account.
Close it in Studio
Section titled “Close it in Studio”- Open “Account and settings” and choose “Your data”.
- Under “Close your account”, read what happens.
- Press “I want to close my account”.
- Type your email address to confirm.
- Press “Close my account”.
Close it in the Panel
Section titled “Close it in the Panel”- Open the Panel, press your name at the bottom of the sidebar to open “Account and settings”, and choose “Your data”.
- Under “Close your account”, read what happens.
- Type your email address in “Type your email to confirm”.
- Press “Close my account”.
Websites with a subscription
Section titled “Websites with a subscription”Closing cancels their subscriptions. Before you confirm, you see “Closing cancels the subscriptions of these websites:”, with the day each one is paid until.
- Each website goes offline the day you close, and the days left are not returned.
- The extras of the period so far are still charged when the period ends, as they would have been.
A payment going through holds the account back for a few minutes. You see “A payment for this website is going through right now, so nothing was changed.” Once it is done, the account can be closed. A payment page left open holds nothing back: if it is paid after the account is closed, its subscription ends at once and the whole payment comes back.
During the 30 days
Section titled “During the 30 days”Studio and the Panel show “Your account is closed”, with the day it will be erased. Until then you can sign in to:
- look at your account and your websites;
- export each version and each website’s statistics;
- download a copy of your account.
Nothing else can be done: nothing is published, connected or paid.
Erase now
Section titled “Erase now”Once you have what you need, you can erase everything at once instead of waiting. This cannot be undone.
In Studio:
- Open “Account and settings” and choose “Your data”.
- Under “Erase now”, press “I want to erase my account now”.
- Choose whether this computer keeps the websites’ folders. Leave “Also remove this account’s websites from this computer” unticked to keep them.
- Type your email address to confirm, and press “Erase my account now”.
In the Panel, under “Erase now” in “Your data”, type your email address in “Type your email to confirm” and press “Erase my account now”.
You are signed out, and an email confirms it.
An erased account cannot sign in again, so Studio can no longer open its websites. Their folders on your computer stay yours unless you ticked to remove them.
What we keep after erasing
Section titled “What we keep after erasing”- Your email address and the date, so the same address does not get a new account by mistake.
- The record of what you paid, for the 6 years the law asks.
- The record of any decision we took on your account or websites, for 5 years.
The websites’ files are kept out of reach for 30 more days, in case of a mistake, and then deleted for good.
