Use your own domain
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- A domain that you own, bought from a domain company, such as
yourbusiness.com. - Access to the settings of that domain at the company where you bought it. These settings are often called DNS.
- A website that has been published at least once.
- A subscription for that website, or its fourteen days of trial. A free website stays on our address.
Each website with a subscription includes one domain of its own, and can have more for a small monthly price each, up to 10, all leading to the same website. The prices page says what each costs.
Step 1: start the website’s subscription, or try it fourteen days
Section titled “Step 1: start the website’s subscription, or try it fourteen days”Open “Online”. Under “Subscription”, press “Publish this website with your domain”. Read Pay for a website.
Once per account, you can press “Try it fourteen days with your own domain, no card” instead: the website has what a subscription includes, with no extras, for fourteen days, with no card asked. Subscribe any day during them and each day left takes one thirtieth off your first month, unless you already pay for another website: then it joins that subscription and no days come off. If you do nothing, after the fourteen days the website returns to our free address, and for fourteen days your domain sends its visitors there. The fourteen days include its one domain; more domains come with its subscription. Read Pay for a website.
Step 2: add your domain in Tsurito
Section titled “Step 2: add your domain in Tsurito”- Open “Online” and choose “Domains”.
- It says how many domains are in use and how many this website includes, for example 0 in use. This website includes 1 domain of its own, with the price of each further domain.
- In “Your domain”, type the address you want, for example
www.yourbusiness.com. - Under it, “Also connect yourbusiness.com (recommended)” is ticked, or “Also connect www.yourbusiness.com (recommended)” when you typed the bare domain. Leave it ticked: both addresses lead to your website, counted as one domain, with the www one as the main address and the bare one sending people to it. Untick it only to connect the address you typed on its own; Tsurito then says who will not find your website. For an address such as
shop.yourbusiness.comthere is nothing to tick. - Press “Connect this domain”.
If you connected one address on its own and want the other one too, press “Also connect www.yourbusiness.com” (or “Also connect yourbusiness.com”) under the domain. It joins the domain you have, so it does not count as another one.
Step 3: add the records at your domain company
Section titled “Step 3: add the records at your domain company”Tsurito shows one or more records, each under “Points the domain at your website” or “Proves the domain is yours (optional when the record above is already in place)”. For each one it shows the type, the name and the value.
- Sign in at the company where you bought your domain.
- Open the DNS settings of your domain.
- Add each record exactly as Tsurito shows it: the type, the name and the value. The copy button beside each name and value copies it for you.
- If there is already a record with the same name, change it or remove it.
- Save.
When you connected a bare domain on its own, such as yourbusiness.com without its www, your domain company must accept a CNAME on the bare domain. Some call it ALIAS or ANAME, and many do not accept it at all. The TXT record is needed too, under “Proves the domain is yours (needed on a bare domain)”. If your company does not accept it, connect www.yourbusiness.com as well and forward yourbusiness.com to it in your company’s settings.
Not sure where to click at your domain company? Press “Copy instructions for your assistant” and paste it into a new task, or into Claude or ChatGPT: it has the records and asks for the steps for your company.
Step 4: wait
Section titled “Step 4: wait”While Tsurito waits, the domain says “Waiting for your DNS. Add these records at your domain provider; the domain shows your website only once they are in place.” When everything is ready, it says “Working. Your website answers at this domain.”
We check every hour, and each time you open this page. To check at once, press “Check now”. This often takes a few minutes. Sometimes it takes up to a day, because domain changes take time to reach the whole internet.
The secure padlock in the browser comes by itself. You do not need to buy a certificate.
When the domain works, “Online” shows it under “Publish” and under “Domains”, marked “Your own domain”.
Remove a domain
Section titled “Remove a domain”In “Online”, “Domains”, press “Remove” next to the domain, then “Remove” again to confirm.
When the subscription or the trial ends
Section titled “When the subscription or the trial ends”The website goes back to our free address. For fourteen days your domain sends its visitors to that address, so nobody finds an empty page; after that it no longer leads to the website. If your 3 free websites are already online, it goes offline instead and your domain stops leading to it at once. Your domain stays yours, and you can connect it again whenever you give the website a subscription.
